Nobleness beyond words


 P Kalyanasundaram- A Real Hero....

Chennai: An epitaph of altruism, P Kalyanasundaram, has been conferred with the 'Man of Millennium' for being an example of exemplary saint-hood. The social worker from Tamil Nadu has rendered his flawless services to orphans and needy as he donated his entire salary since last thirty years.
Kalyanasundaram had worked as a librarian for 30 years. He has not only donated his salary for the good cause but also contributed the sum of 10 lakh rupees, which was his entire pension, to the people in need.

Sundaram enjoys enviable status of becoming the first person who has donated his entire earnings for a social cause. Recognizing his rich contribution, the US government honored him with the 'Man of Millennium' award. He received Rs 30 crore as the award money but moving on his charity path, he donated the whooping sum of Rs 30 crores for the people in need.

How he entered into the social service, is an interesting story. During his college days the Indo-China war broke out, and he decided to contribute his gold chain to the then Chief Minister, Kamaraj, for the war fund.

He met Balasubramanian, Editor, Ananda Vikatan, after he donated his chain for the war fund. Sundaram was about to speak about his noble cause when Subramanian said Sundaram that he will write about him only when he will donate something from his earnings.

Taking the editor's words as a challenge, Sundaram quietly went away. He vowed to live his life only for the social welfare. He is a bachelor and has dedicated his life to serve the society.
    

"We cannot sustain ourselves, unless we contribute to the society in someway or the other. I strongly feel if even one person does his bit towards social good, there will be some change." 

A will to serve combined with a sense of social justice has been the guiding principle of P. Kalyanasundaram, who has spent over 45 years in social service


 





South super star Rajinikanth has adopted him as his father. He is a bachelor and has dedicated his life to serve society. United Nations Organizations (UNO) has honored him as Outstanding People of the 20th Century.

Kalyanasundaram is actively dedicating his life in the field of social services for more than 45 years. 'Paalam' is social welfare organization founded by them.

Sundaram, a gold medalist in Library science has Master degree in Literature and History from Madras University, India. He received BAPASI award for best librarian in 2012. Other awards received by him include lifetime service award from Rotary International, 2011, 'Best Librarian in India' award by Union Government felicitated by the Tiruneveli Collector in 1990.

He was born and brought in Melakaruvelangulam village of Nangunari taluk in Tirunelveli district of Tamilnadu state in India. Sundaram practices Gandhian principles. He is appreciated for his simple living and high thinking style.

He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. In recognition to his service, the American government honoured him with the ‘Man of the Millennium’ award. He received a sum of Rs 30 crores as part of this award which he distributed entirely for the needy as usual.

Moved by his passion to help others, Super Star Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. He still stays as a bachelor and dedicated his entire life for serving the society. 

All our Politicians, Film stars, Business magnets, cricketers  Press and we all Indians should be PROUD and also should be ashamed of ourselves. American Government has honored him but we Indians even don't know that such a personality exist amongst us.

Atleast have the courtesy to pass this on and on till the whole world comes to know about this Great Good Samaritan.
